"She traded in her day planner for a watercolor journal"

Connie M. Williams has always been fascinated by nature’s patterns, shapes and intricate details.  She began watercolor painting in 2005 and found it to be the perfect medium to capture and portray an observed moment of nature’s splendor.

She was born and raised in Capitola, California.  In 1980, Connie moved to Montana and worked in beautiful natural surroundings throughout the state while employed by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service as a Civil Engineering Technician.  After graduation from Montana State University with a degree in Land Resource Conservation, she continued her career with the USDA as State Cartographer and GIS Analyst.  Because resource inventory requires methodical and accurate observation of the natural world, it was invaluable training for a future in watercolor painting.  She returned to Capitola in 2000 where she worked as a project manager for a major retail corporation.  In 2005, she traded in her day planner for a watercolor journal and is now enjoying a career as a full time watercolor artist.  She hosts a weekly watercolor studio group, the "Elizabethans."

Connie studied watercolor painting with acclaimed watercolor artists Elizabeth Kincaid and Mark Farina and has taken workshops from Tom Lynch and Birgit O'Connor.  She has developed a style that is realistic yet unique, with m
any subjects rendered larger than life. Using layers of transparent watercolor glazes, Connie replicates a natural subject with its light and shadow, shapes and shades, and captures a splendid moment for you to enjoy.
